So bascially, yes, I *think* one can get these games running on a Raspberry Pi, but some effort is needed to fit into this little machine and performance may not be great. Those, however a) don\'t happen automatically and b) don\'t happen over night. So this *will* be challenging and optimizations would most likely be needed. Nexuiz/Xonotic likes fast CPUs and I don\'t think I ever saw it performing decently on something like a 10 years old desktop processor. * The processor, of course, is \"slow\" when comparing to normal desktop PCs. It may be a challenge scaling down to 256 MB of RAM, but then again there already are minified builds of Nexuiz/Xonotic done by community enthusiasts that like to tinker with that. Clearly, on a Raspberry Pi one would have to dramatically scale down on that, reducing texture quality. are (uncompressed and in full quality) several gigabytes big. For Xonotic, people on 32-bit machines have to use a build with precompressed textures to prevent running into issues when running out of virtual address space - all texture assets etc. * The Raspberry Pi does not have a lot of RAM. The renderer would need a port to OpenGL ES 2.0, which should be possible and I think LordHavoc, the engine\'s main developer, confirmed this. * OpenGL on the Raspberry Pi is, as far as I know, available in the form of \"OpenGL ES\" (2.0 I assume), the game engine currently supports OpenGL starting with ancient 1.x versions reaching up to 3.x features that can be used. Following challenges would have to be overcome: Nexuiz/Xonotic is using the Darkplaces engine, which is GPLed (just like the whole game, complete with art assets), so a port is for sure possible in terms of source availability. xonotic-linux-glx.sh.Being a former project member of Nexuiz I think I can help a bit with the Nexuiz/Xonotic (the latter basically being something similar to the successor of the former, I\'m not aware of any continued development of the original open-source Nexuiz - not to be confused with the commercial console game of the same name) question. To install Xonotic 0.5 in Ubuntu 11.04, download the zip package from the official website, uncompress it and run the appropriate executable (e.g./xonotic-linux32-glx. I wasn’t able to take screenshots of the configuration options though from within the game, so I had to use an external application for that. This particular remix of Nexuiz is based on Nexuiz 2. The toggle fullscreen option works like a charm, while screenshots can be found inside the ~/.xonotic/data/screenshots/ directory. Xonotic is full-featured and provides ambient music, keyboard configuration (including switching from fullscreen mode to windowed-mode in-game, without restarting the game), various graphics effects, player models, weapons and maps. Its strong point is the multiplayer mode, however it also includes an instant action mode vs bots and a singleplayer campaign with bots support. Xonotic is a fast-paced shooter set in an unreal world, and comes with a wide range of weapons, maps, various player models and a whole bunch of community-created content. Which, for the Linux platform is pretty important. Currently the developers of Xonotic state that the game is “on the par with most commercial games from 2006-2007”. Xonotic uses the Darkplaces game engine, an engine which started as a Quake modification, but it was under heavy development and new improvements were made. The fork was created because Nexuiz was licensed to IllFonic game studios, and it is to be used as a platform for developing a commercial game for Steam, Xbox and PlayStation. The Xonotic project started as a fork of Nexuiz, a game which was popular for many years on Linux. Xonotic is a free first-person shooter game for Linux, Windows and Mac OS X.
